PeterWe don't get to see a lot of Peter Keay in his scene, but maybe that's a great metaphor for his life, because he's such a busy guy, some days we only catch a glimpse of him! He was the obvious choice for his role of a restaurant worker, because that's what he does for paid employment. He's a staff member at the famous Works Gourmet Burger Bistro. But that's not all. He also works as a custodian at Volunteer Canada.

Pretty much from the first day he arrived at LiveWorkPlay, Peter knew that paid work was going to be an important part of his personal identity. But for those who know him well, those workplace roles are generally not what first comes to mind.

Peter Keay shares with millions the popular hobby of watching, collecting, and discussing motion picture productions. He's big on the superhero genre, but sci-fi and especially Star Wars can make for some of the most interesting conversations.

Peter has a natural curiosity that keeps him motivated for personal growth. He pursues more formal learning through an academic program at Algonquin College, but through his daily life Peter is comfortable with asking questions and getting answers. He does this equally well in person, with email, and on the phone.

The big news of the moment is that he is moving in to his own one-bedroom condominium. He and his parents have been working on a plan with quite detailed timelines for a number of years. Everyone concerned is excited and positive about the pending move. They've achieved that by establishing "moving out" as a matter of routine life transition - just as it was for Peter's older brother.

Peter always goes to great lengths to ensure that he treats others well, perhaps because he himself had to work very hard to overcome the effects of bullying and other abuses he suffered in the high school environment. He feels that is mostly behind him now, but hopes for a better experience for the younger generation of people with intellectual disabilities.

To describe Peter in just a few words is challenging. He is very concerned for the feelings of others and demands a lot from himself. In his years at LiveWorkPlay "Always improving!" would be an apt description.
