What's BUZZING with the Volunteers?

JANUARY 2010 UPDATE!

This month, we've jumped aboard the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day promotion through Volunteer Canada. 

We've also hosted a successful volunteer discussion group about Community Living.    

DECEMBER 2009 STATISTICS! 

We've hosted 6 volunteer orientations with over 60 volunteers in attendance since August.

We've grown to a team of 94 volunteers.

We've hosted two volunteer workshops as well as CPR/First Aid training.

We have 32 active matches between volunteers and members as well as another 12 matches in the works.

We'd like to thank all of our volunteer members for contributing and being committed to "A good life for people with intellectual disabilities!"

OCTOBER 2009 UPDATE!

We've held three successful volunteer orientation sessions so far this year and we've welcomed 30 new volunteers since mid July! 

We have a team of 21 volunteers supporting our Friday evening groups for adults and youth and that team is made up of many experienced volunteers as well as a few newcomers.

We're in for another excellent year with our volunteer team!

SEPTEMBER 2009 UPDATE! 

Our first Volunteer Orientation was a huge success with about 15 people in attendance!  Our next Orientation is on September 10th and is quickly filling up. 

AUGUST 2009 UPDATE!

We're hosting  our first Volunteer Orientation of the 2009-2010 season on August 27th.  Invitations will be mailed to current volunteers.  Looking forward to seeing you there!

JUNE 2008 UPDATE!

The Engines of Success Recognition Banquet brought together the volunteer team for some much deserved acknowledgement from the LiveWorkPlay community.

OCTOBER 2007 UPDATE!

Halloween Family Fun Night 2007 saw a packed house of 100 Journeys, SMILE, and family members! After many years of hosting these events in several small rooms, the use of a bigger venue this year made things more fun for everyone.

The volunteer team provided critical support for this event, appearing as panelists in Match Game, hosting Tricks, serving Treats, acting as suspects in the Murder Myster, and keeping track of team points in all the games. 

JUNE 2007 UPDATE!

There was a great turnout of Friday night volunteers for the Engines of Success banquet on June 20. Also honoured at the ceremony were auction volunteers.

DECEMBER 2006 UPDATE!

It's been a great fall season of Journeys and SMILE@NIGHT. Volunteers and staff recently got together for a potluck celebration and compared stories. It's already been quite a year! Click on the picture to the right to see who was there.
