LiveWorkPlay adult services are developed and managed in partnership with families, other nonprofit agencies, the private sector, and government.

2008-2009 TRIBUTE

Our adult services help adults with intellectual disabilites to establish goals, develop a plan to pursue those goals, and access the internal and external resources they need to realize them. It is all about having a good life!

LiveWorkPlay adult services are not for everyone. It was created with funding support from the Ministry of Community and Social Services with the specific mandate of supporting individuals to transition to life in the community.

Approximately 90% of persons with intellectual disabilities are labelled in the "mild to moderate" diagnostic category, and LiveWorkPlay adult services were created to help address the demand for transitional supports among that population. This was a specification of the original funding mandate through which our adult services were created. This means that LiveWorkPlay must re-direct individuals with different needs to seek support from other agencies. Specifically, LiveWorkPlay does not have the physical or human resources to assist with complex medical needs. We do however support many individuals with complex mental health needs.

LiveWorkPlay is all about setting goals and making plans to realize them. And it is all about self-advocacy - learning to speak up for yourself and make decisions for yourself. It is all about change.

Sometimes individuals and/or their family members find LiveWorkPlay services difficult or decide it is not something they want, so it is important to learn more about it. There is extensive information about our services available from the menu on the left side of the page.
