The Innovative LiveWorkPlay Approach To Long-Term Housing For People With Intellectual Disabilities
June 19: Day 43
Most people started laundry early to "get it out of the way." Lunch was really quiet and the food choices kind of limited. But there was lots of good conversation, especially about the different choices for what to do at night. The fringe festival is on but it was hard to tell what there was to do there. There's also lots of good movies playing. But there was unanimous interest in seeing The Graduate at the NAC.
After lunch Julie went with a small group to get tickets. Not long after they got back, Lucas arrived back several hous early after attending a family event and there wasn't a ticket for him. He accepted this quite graciously, but the good news was that he was able to get a ticket anyway.
There were some different choices for dinner, including swiss steak and a lamb stew that were both pretty tasty.
After dinner everyone got cleaned up and ready for a night at the theatre. The play was sold out except for the last two rows. One of the stars is Kelly McGillis that most people remember from Top Gun (although her best work was probalby in the movie Witness).
There are funny parts in the play but it also has some serious moments. It seemed that everyone liked it, but some people were more enthusiastic than others. At the end there was a group of about 50 people to the left of the stage who gave a standing ovation, and then led by Cooper the OOOT2 gang started up and got about 10 other people in the area to join in.
It was a beautiful but chilly night. On the bus ride home there was lots of talk about late night snacks, and Cooper and Ryan definitely carried through on their promises.
It was the last Saturday night of the project and definitely a good time had by all.
Reminder: as of Monday night LiveWorkPlay must have the final numbers for the banquet. Payment can be arranged later, but anyone planning to attend needs to reserve their seat before Tuesday. If you are having trouble with that deadline, get in touch with Julie anyway and see what can be organized.
And don't forget that all participants need to be in their rooms at Carleton no later than 5:30 on Friday (the day of the banquet) and that all guests are expected at 6:30 in the lobby of the Crowne Plaza.
