The Innovative LiveWorkPlay Approach To Long-Term Housing For People With Intellectual Disabilities
June 18: Day 42
Lots of nice messages came in to the LiveWorkPlay office about the open house today.
Jenny called for support this morning because she was having a problem but then she figured out she had responded to the problem perfectly and even though it was still upsetting, she was proud of herself because she realized she could not possibly have done any better!
Things have been so busy the idea of using Carleton facilities has been a bit limited. It's something to think of for the future. Maybe access to things like fitness equipment needs to be really immediate if people are actually going to use it.
But tonight Paul, Robin, and Jenny did get to the swimming pool and had a great time. Without really trying, Paul became the centre of attention for the entire pool. He kept going up the tower and looking down at the water and then going back down again. People started noticing and started to support him with a chant of "GO GO GO" and urged on by the crowd he let out a savage yell and plunged into the receptive waters, emerging with a triumphant smile.
