The Innovative LiveWorkPlay Approach To Long-Term Housing For People With Intellectual Disabilities
June 2: Day 26
It was a busy night. People were everywhere. It's a chronicles nightmare!
Warren was getting his hair cut. Ian was helping Ryan do some work at his cottage. Robin was out with a friend. Jenny was with her worker making a meal for a pot luck. Rachel had an appointment but was back for dinner. Jen did something too! Let's just say a lot of people did a lot of things.
It wasn't dull back at the Leeds ranch either. Ann and Raymond spent most of the night including dinner. The cafeteria was pretty quiet for a change, which was nice. Before dinner ended, plans were made for a game of bocce and it seemed everyone wanted to play.
This year's bocce arena is in the Stormont-Dundas courtyard (it's flat). It's a bit like being in a fishbowl but the people staying there, mostly teenagers right now, seemed to enjoy watching the game. It was the first time Moira had ever played and her big smile showed she had a lot of fun. Paul and Rachel do better when the target ball is far away, because they like to put a lot of pace on it!
The bocce went until 8:00 and then it was time for some people to watch Canadian Idol. Most everyone was in the lounge, but some people were there to draw, like Caroline and Moira. Dale was running around doing tracking as people who had been out trickled in. Cooper showed Keenan how he is keeping track of his busy day. He keeps a notepad and gets organized ahead of time so he doesn't have to worry about last minute details. Very impressive!
Warren is learning how to set his alarm clock, and it is pretty tricky...there's AM and PM on the time and AM and PM on the alarm and if you hit the wrong button then the time is wrong and you have to go all the around again and then you have to set the alarm and if you hit the wrong button you have to go around again on that too or worse you might accidentally hit the time button and then the time is wrong again...
The JR squared suite got very lively around 10:00 for some reason, all sorts of people were hanging about. Jen was wide awake even though she was in bed, and freely engaged in conversations throughout the suite. But rather significantly she talked about how much she is enjoying being in the project. Rachel wanted to show Ryan that his lumberjack/pyjama combo was not the only fashion statement on campus, so she donned her groovy late night baby blue tracksuit. Jenny made some incredible brownies that had a lot of people smiling, especially Rachel and Robin.
Warren was still working on his laundry by the time Dale and Keenan left. He is quite a laundry professional. It turns out he won't bring any clothes to his room unless they are folded or on a hanger!
Tomorrow is a big day for those who work at MBNA because they are having a giant corn boil! If you are driving on the Queensway or in the bus on the Transitway and you go past Blair, you will probably see the massive tent where the party is going on starting at 5:00.
Some of the open house and banquet invitations mailed on Tuesday have already arrived! Watch for yours or check out the online invitations right here on the OOOT2 website.
