MAY 5: DAY -3
Who can believe it? Three days to go. The nerves are definitely a bit tingly, but everyone is staying relatively calm, and best of all, asking for help when needed.
The excitement of the day was the unveiling of a new tool that will help with safety, personal responsibility, and time management. There will be one in each suite. It is basically a big bulletin board divided in three or four (depending on the suite) with one section for each person. It has the hours of the day going from left to right, and then underneath that a bunchy of icons representing typical daily activities, like "cafeteria" or "swimming pool" or "work." There's also a notepad on the right in case none of the categories can describe the activity.
So how does it work? Well, you use a green thumbtack and put it underneath the time of day that matches up to when you are leaving. Then you put the red thumbtack on the time you are expected back. Then you use the blue thumbtack(s) to show where you are going.
It sounds a bit complicated, but Moira came to SMILE after working at MBNA and she missed the whole hour before that were the tracking system was explained. But when she went up to the front without any information and tried it out she got it exactly right!
